Scene Overview

Journey to Wizardry is a project inspired by a concept of Hogwarts Legacy made by Vanessa Palmer. I focused on creating modular units and utilizing trim sheets in this project. I also learned a lot of techniques for adding details using vertex painting and decals in Unreal Engine 5. (Link to the concept art: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/ob9ZmW)

Modular Units Creation
In order to create the modular units, I started with concept draw-over and analysis to find the textures I need to create and separate individual buildings into 2m * 3m elevation elements.

All building Units Using Trim Sheet Textures

Trim Sheets
Universal trim sheets for bricks, concretes, woods, and several decorative materials made in Substance Designer for all the building modular units.
Vertex Painting and Parallax Occlusion
I used vertex painting and decals to add variations to all the assets using trim textures, break the repeated units, and blend the UV seams.
I created a Parallax Occlusion street material including three different materials for the street unit close to the camera. (Base and second material with occlusion and height blend parameters.)
